Getting started - thanks

Hi coming in cap in hand

Sending over 0.1 BURST! Welcome! (Yes 0.1 Burst is now sufficient to set up your wallet)

Be sure to follow getBURST on twitter for Burst news and information!

Read the information below carefully, because this is the only Burst I’m sending you  If possible, please help out any new person needing some starter Burst. Donations are also welcome to help me start new people off  BURST-FFLQ-3QZJ-267R-F3QBX

---- Getting Started Read Below Before Continuing ----

Contrary to what most of the getting started guides say, you only need to create one transaction to “activate” your wallet. Changing your reward recipient to a pool for mining gets this done. Please read this post regarding activating your account -

Here is a guide for setting your reward recipient for pool mining -

I highly recommend and pools for new miners with under 24TB!

Thank you!

just a quick check…

when setting the reward recipient the screen is different to that shown in the guides,

“your account” no problem

“pool account” - going to use cryptoguru 0-100

“select wallet to use”???

so do i select local? my wallet? cryptoguru wallet??

i think cryptoguru but as this is not in the guide thought i would check. lol developing software always brings up changes and sorry to be pain i just really want this correct so i dont waste my precious coin

thanks for the help

Ok lots more reading and lookslike local wallet is the one i want.

Fortunately plotting is taking forever so no hurry to set but hopefully soon i can give it a go

No problem, what wallet software are you using? There are a few options.

Burst wallet, went for setting up as per the instructions to keep life simple

There are several wallet UI

Are you using the core wallet? Running a full node? To help me, can you please link the instructions you are using?

I am using the video guide from the burst wiki.

I think i am up and running now…

Can i plot another drive while mining the one already plotted or does it have to stop mining? I gather i will have to restart the miner to add the drive once plotted but hope i can plot in the background while mining.

Looking at the cryptoguru info page my burst address is showing so i think its running

but my effective capacity is 0

hmm hope this will increase with time?? i have plotted over 1Tb to start with but i guess it will possibly add it a bit at a time as it confirms its availability?

sorry complete newbie with no clue what i am doing.

figured my 16Tb might as well be made use off so trying to get started. added the smallest drive first while i figure out if i want clean drives or can use unused space on drives.

shuffling data around to clear out drives and make them available so its a long slow process

Woo hoo i show a pending burst value!

Ok its tiny but i hope that means i am up and running

You can read this page to learn how the pool works -

If you are able to screenshot and post those, that would also help. Glad you are progressing well!

Looks to all be running thanks, yes i have been reading what i can to get a handle on whats normal.

My effective capacity did indeed increase to within 10%.

Just wish the plotting wasnt so picky. Spent a couple of days plotting to have them fail due to overlap? I think it said. Since different physical drives i think it was possibly the file names… trying again only running one plot at a time hopefully that cures it.

Hopefully Blago is now finished fighting windows defender that was another fun little drama to deal with but hopefully now down to just working away as it should be and i can slowly add in the drives once they plot.

Not quite easy sailing but on the whole not too unpleasant a task to get started

Yes, you have to plan ahead that the nonces don’t overlap while plotting.
I actually use very large numbers and just count by that per drive.

Here is an example -

If I label and keep track of everything, and the starting nonce is always (drive number X 10,000,000,000,000) it all works out fine

Thanks, thats a simple and easy solution.

I figured i couldnt just plot more than one at a time but only one way to find out.

That would be a good addition the the starting instructions as i would gues many will want to plot more than one drive. Even better if the plotter did it automatically but yhat may not be simple.

Thanks, Yes I think perhaps I should do a write-up on this if I ever get a chance
