How to connect 40 HDD to gigabyte z370 gaming 5 motherboard

#1

I have 40 hard drive and trying to buy usb hub to hook them to mother. But I figured out 3 hard drive for each usb hub is kind of the max without lowering reading speed too much.
For that motherboard, I only have 6 sata3 port, 4 Oregon final usb3.0 port, 3 pcie slots.
It seems really hard to get 40 hdd on one motherboard without sas. I’m not with familiar sas, so I don’t want to dig too much on sas so fat.
Do you guys have any suggestion? Thanks a lot

Are these pro usb3.0 card with 4 USB ports able to handle USB Hubs?
I will put 4 HDD into one usb hub and then have 4 usb hubs into one pcie usb3.0 card.

I cant speak for those particularly, but I use a startech, quad bus, pcie, usb3 expansion card and have 10 drives per hub with a hub connected to each slot and have had no problems.

40 Drives per card.

Cool. Thanks so sharing.
Can you tell me what’s your reading speed on each hard drive.?

I have a usb hub connecting 4 HDDs with 90MB/s on each but only 65MB/s if I am having 5 HDDs on that USB hub.
I think in my case it is no good.
