Network Difficulty and Round Elapsed


Can somone explain why network difficulty jump like… horny rabbit? In one moment it’s 90k , in another 190k or even 250k? And same thing is happening with “Round Elapsed”. From 4min to 40min…


The network algorithm tries to regulate the 360/day block parameter. If by chance 2 or 3 blocks are forged quick, the algorithm overreacts and raises the diff, basically overshooting, then the forged times are really long and then the diff shoots way down, to compensate again overreacting, eventually after a few cycles of this it levels out.
